Fine Art of Fiber

Fine Art of Fiber is an annual show and sale jointly organized by Weavers Guild of the North Shore, Illinois Quilters Inc., and the North Suburban NeedleArts Guild. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious fiber art shows in the Midwest, and a wonderful opportunity to see and purchase locally crafted fiber and textile works. Fine Art of Fiber is held each year at the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, Illinois.

Sure, fashion is continually evolving, but how have garments “created by weavers” evolved with the times? Faye will illustrate these changes with a fashion show sure to bring back memories along with an appreciation of the evolution of handwoven fashion.

Workshop: Crackle Weave

Participants will weave a sampler of different treadlings that are possible with Crackle Weave. We will go over a bit of the history, understanding threading and the Crackle blocks, play with color in the wefts, experimenting with traditional treadlings and work our way up to polychrome.

Carpool Field Trip to Handweavers Guild of America Convergence at the Wisconsin Center

Milwaukee, Wisconsin
